Plan to Upgrade Haifa Port Approved

Jerusalem, 1 December, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s National Committee for National Infrastructures approved a strategic plan, which upgrades the port area in Haifa.

The plan includes the arrangement of the old container terminal, the evacuation and restoration of the historic fuel port and the “20 Acres” farm, the determination of land designations and port development, and the implementation of environmental guidelines and hazardous waste storage spaces in accordance with the requirements of the economy and environmental protection.

The main points of the plan include defining port land designations at sea and on land, determining rights and building regulations, arranging for the evacuation and reconstruction of the old fuel port complex, the fuel pier and the “20 Acres” farm, as well as determining a designated area for storing hazardous materials according to the requirements of the Ministry of Environmental Protection. This area does not include the fuel complexes and the farms we shared.

“This is a significant step in the national process of regulating port infrastructure in Israel, and in a process that will lead to the evacuation and closure of the old fuel port that was established during the British Mandate period,” said the Ministry of Transportation.
