One in Three Israeli Adults Took Part in Volunteer Work

Jerusalem, 3 December, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics released new data on volunteerism ahead of International Volunteer Day on Friday, showing that about 1.89 million Israelis volunteered in 2024, roughly 30% of adults aged 20 and over.

Men volunteered at slightly higher rates than women, 31% compared to 29%. The data show significant gaps between population groups, with 35% of Jews volunteering versus 8.3% of Arabs. Overall, 36% volunteered through organizations, 46% did so privately, and 18% engaged in both.

Most volunteers assisted people in need, while others contributed to education, public order and health services, including roles with Magen David Adom and hospitals.
