One in Three Israeli Adults Took Part in Volunteer Work
Discover the latest statistics on volunteerism in Israel, with one in three adults participating in various ways to help their communities.
Jerusalem, 3 December, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics released new data on volunteerism ahead of International Volunteer Day on Friday, showing that about 1.89 million Israelis volunteered in 2024, roughly 30% of adults aged 20 and over.
Men volunteered at slightly higher rates than women, 31% compared to 29%. The data show significant gaps between population groups, with 35% of Jews volunteering versus 8.3% of Arabs. Overall, 36% volunteered through organizations, 46% did so privately, and 18% engaged in both.
Most volunteers assisted people in need, while others contributed to education, public order and health services, including roles with Magen David Adom and hospitals.
