Jerusalem, 23 October, 2025 (TPS-IL) — A “master plan” for the renewal of the Old City of Ramla, promoted by the Israel Land Authority and the Ramla Municipality, was adopted by the District Planning and Building Committee. Ramla is a mixed Arab-Jewish city in central Israel traditionally known as a low-income area and a center for reputed criminal organizations.
The program deals with the urban renewal of the Old City of Ramla, which the Authority described as a “historic Middle Eastern district that is home to important historical buildings and structures of great architectural value, reflecting the glorious past of Ramla, which to this day continues to serve as an active urban center of a modern, multicultural city.”
It offers a sustainable process of comprehensive urban renewal for the Old City and focuses on strengthening the Old City as a “living and vibrant residential fabric” with the addition of approximately 2,780-3,440 residential units alongside employment, education and culture, preservation of the built, institutional and community heritage, and development of sustainable tourism.
