Jerusalem, 25 May, 2025 (TPS-IL) — The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) Chief of Staff, Maj. Gen. Eyal Zamir, on Sunday conducted a situation assessment and field tour in Khan Yunis in Gaza with senior IDF commanders. While there, he spoke with the fighters and commanders in the field about the importance of the operational activity as part of Operation “Gideon’s Chariots” to defeat Hamas, praised them for their work and approved plans for the future.
“You are fighting on the central front of the State of Israel, this is a continuous and multi-scene warm,” Zamir told them. “You defeated the Rafah Brigade and it is your time to defeat the Khan Yunis Brigade.
“We are increasing our activity in accordance with the regular plan,” he added. “Hamas is under great pressure; it has lost most of its assets and its command and control. We will use all our tools so that we can return the hostages to their homes, defeat Hamas and dismantle its rule.”
Zamor also said that the war in Gaza “is not an endless war” and that the IDF will work to shorten it in accordance with the “fulfillment of its goals.”
“We want to defeat it and we will do this with determination, thoroughness and while maintaining the security of the forces.,” said Zamir about Hamas.
“You are doing extraordinary and extremely important work here – you have my full support,” he told the troops.
