Israeli Folk Dancing to Be Included in School Curriculum
Israeli Ministry of Education announces inclusion of Israeli folk dancing in school curriculum for middle school students, connecting them to cultural heritage.
Jerusalem, 24 July, 2025 (TPS-IL) — In the upcoming school year (2025-6), the dance curriculum for middle school students (grades 7-9) will expand and incorporate new topics, including Israeli folk dance for the stage and traditional dance styles from the various cultural movements that make up Israeli society.
“This is a first-of-its-kind educational initiative that gives the dance tradition a place of honor within the curriculum, connecting students to a living heritage through movement,” said the Ministry of Education.
The move was made as part of the “Roots Program – the National Plan for jewish and Zionist Identity,” initiated by Education Minister Yoav Kish, and expresses the commitment to strengthening the sense of belonging of Israeli students through a physical, creative, and multicultural learning experience.
