Israel Reports 12th Measles Fatality; Health Ministry Urges Vaccination

Jerusalem, 9 December, 2025 (TPS-IL) — An 11-month-old baby has died from measles complications, Israel’s Health Ministry reported. The infant, previously healthy and unvaccinated, had been transferred last week from the Poriya Medical Center in Tiberias to Haifa’s Rambam Hospital, where he was placed on an IV drip. Most of the other 11 recent measles deaths involved healthy, unvaccinated infants.

The death brings to 12 the total number of fatalities in Israel from the measles Outbreak, which began in May. The majority of those who died were previously healthy Children with no underlying conditions who had not received the measles vaccine.

The Ministry stressed that measles is preventable with a safe and effective vaccine, recommending children receive doses at ages one and six.
