Jerusalem, 11 December, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel has officially mapped its wine-growing regions for the first time, joining France, Italy, and Spain in defining terroir-based areas. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, together with the Ministry of Health, identified seven super-regions: Galilee, Carmel Range, Samaria, Coastal Plain, Negev, Valleys, and Judea. Wines with at least 85% of grapes from a designated region can now bear its name on the label.

Officials say the move will strengthen Israel’s wine industry, boost regional tourism, and enhance global recognition of Israeli wine.

Annual production reaches 45 million bottles, with exports hitting $65 million in 2024.
