Jerusalem, 12 November, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure launched a new initiative, together with the Association of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in Israel, government companies in the energy sector, and private companies in the economy, to encourage electrical engineers to integrate into the public, private, and government sectors in order to create a reserve of engineers.
Today, most graduates in the field turn to the high-tech industry for more attractive conditions and sometimes to avoid licensing exams. To change this trend, the ministry initiated a unique incentive program, which included a call for scholarships for students in the energy fields, with an emphasis on electrical engineering.
According to the program, outstanding undergraduate students will receive a scholarship equal to a full year’s tuition and will be able to integrate into designated student positions in government and public companies. The companies in the electricity sector have already informed the ministry about their needs for these positions and, together with the academic institutions, the Association of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in Israel, and the government and private companies, an accelerated student absorption process has begun.
In addition, a new mechanism is planned in the future in collaboration with the Companies Authority: students who complete their studies and enter the internship phase (two years) will receive a significant annual grant of NIS 30,000-50,000. This issue is being addressed with the Payroll Supervisor at the Ministry of Finance, Efi Malkin.
