Israel Confirms Nine West Nile Cases as Mosquito Season Extends

Jerusalem, 26 October, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Health and Environmental Protection ministries reported the capture of mosquitoes infected with the West Nile virus in Peduel in the center of the country, and in the northern areas of Nahalal and Kfar Baruch. Dr. Shai Reicher of the Environmental Protection Ministry said warm weather is extending the mosquito season, prompting intensified monitoring and extermination efforts.

Dr. Oren Shetach Katvi from the Health Ministry noted that nine human cases have been confirmed this year. Authorities urged the public to use repellents, install nets, wear long clothing, and eliminate standing water to prevent mosquito breeding.
