Jerusalem, 5 August, 2025 (TPS-IL) — A foreign worker from Thailand was detained at a restaurant in the city of Modi’in, located west of Jerusalem, who was employed illegally and under what the Population and Immigration Authority described as “inappropriate conditions.”
The individual, who came from Thailand to work in the agricultural sector and abandoned his employer to work in the restaurant, said he slept every night on one of the sofas inside the restaurant and showered there.
An investigation case was opened against the employer for illegal employment, which constitutes a criminal offense.
The Population and Immigration Authority reiterated that the employment of foreigners without a regulated visa and under inappropriate conditions is against the law and investigative files will be opened against the employers.
