Household Dog Infected with Rabies in Kadita Community, Upper Galilee
Animal description: The Ministry of Health reports a household dog, medium-sized, black and white, of the Border Collie breed, that was found to be infected with rabies in Kadita in the Upper Galilee.
Dates: October 23, 2025, through November 7, 2025, inclusive.
Details: Fourteen people who were exposed to the dog were referred for preventive rabies treatment.
Instructions:
Anyone who was in contact, or whose animals may have come into contact, in the area of the incident with the infected dog or any stray animal between October 23 and November 7, 2025 (inclusive), should urgently contact the Safed Health Bureau at 04-6994257, 04-6994200, or the nearest health bureau to their place of residence to determine whether preventive treatment is needed.
After working hours and on weekends, please go to a hospital emergency department.
The Ministry of Health requests:
- Parents – check with your children whether they have been in contact with any suspicious animals, and if so, contact the health bureau immediately.
- Pet owners – contact your municipal veterinarian to verify the vaccination status of your pets.
- Please share this information with travelers and visitors in the area and in nearby communities.
The Ministry of Health reminds the public that anyone bitten or scratched by an animal should immediately wash the area with running water and soap, disinfect it, and go to the health bureau to determine whether preventive rabies treatment is needed.
