Jerusalem, 12 May, 2025 (TPS-IL) — China’s ambassador to Israel pledged to bring 3,000 workers from China to Israel. The pledge comes as Israel faces a continuing shortage of manpower in the construction industry since the beginning of the war.
The pledge came when Israel’s Labor Minister Yoav Ben-Zur hosted the Chinese Ambassador to Israel, Dr. Xiao Jun-Zheng, in his office today (Monday, May 12, 2025), for a discussion on the bringing of additional workers from China.
During the meeting, Minister Ben-Tzur and the ministry’s Director General Israel Ozan closely examined projects and collaborations to employ workers from China in Israel and strengthen economic, political and strategic ties between the countries.
Labor Minister Yoav Ben-Zur: “The housing shortage has worsened due to the multi-front war that Israel has been waging for a long time against terrorist organizations in the Middle East, and the demand for additional workers from China for the construction industry is a national interest for the Israeli and Chinese economies. The economic cooperation between the countries is deep, Chinese workers are an integral part of the Israeli labor market, and we are grateful that even during the war, Chinese companies remained to work in the country. Alongside economic ties, we look forward to strengthening political and diplomatic relations with China.”
