Child Dies as Israel Faces Severe Flu Season; Health Ministry Calls for Vaccinations

Jerusalem, 3 december, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Health Ministry reported the death of a child who recently fell ill with the flu. The child, generally healthy and vaccinated, developed fever and cough several days ago, and despite resuscitation efforts, was pronounced dead.

The ministry warned that this year’s flu season began early and is spreading rapidly, with global monitoring suggesting severe morbidity. While the Vaccine does not fully prevent infection, it typically reduces severity and the risk of serious illness or death, the ministry said.

The public is urged to get vaccinated, with free vaccines available for everyone six months and older through health insurers.
