Arab Man Arrested Tring to Start Fires in Jerusalem

Jerusalem, 30 April, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Jerusalem District police officers arrested a man in his 50s and a resident of the Umm Tuba Arab neighborhood in southern Jerusalem while he was trying to light a fire in an open field in the south of the city.

The suspect attempted to flee the police officers, but caught by them.

A search of his belongings revealed a match, cotton wool, and other flammable materials.

The arrested suspect, a resident of Umm Tuba, was taken for questioning at Oz Station, and the police investigation into his actions is ongoing.

It must be stressed that the man is not suspected of being involved in any way with the wildfires currently raging in central Israel.
