Jerusalem, 27 November, 2025 (TPS-IL) — The Israel Police confirmed that 13 people who breached the border at two different locations in the Golan Heights and Mount Hermon areas and entered Syrian territory Thursday evening were caught by Israeli forces, returned to Israel and transferred to the Northern District Police for investigation on suspicion of causing damage to the fence and crossing into enemy territory.

During their arrest, some suspects allegedly committed offenses against an IDF (Israel Defense Forces) soldier.

The IDF provided no details as to who the people were or why they crossed the border into Syrian territory.

However, since Israel established a new security zone within Syrian territory after the fall of the Assad regime there one year ago there have been a few incidents of Druze who live in the Golan attempting to visit relatives across the border and/or help Syrian Druze who have been attacked by forces of the new Syrian regime.

The Druze are a small Arab sect and religion whose few members live mostly in the region between southern Lebanon, northern Israel and southern Syria and those who live in the Golan area were separated from their relatives in Syria after the 1967 Six Day War.
