Prime Minister Netanyahu at the impact site in Be’er Sheva: “We are striking the enemy: its leadership, its oppressive regime, and various targets, those in Lebanon included. We possess determination, initiative, and stratagem that the enemy will yet encounter even more intensely.”

Prime Minister Netanyahu arrived today at the impact site in Be’er Sheva, accompanied by Deputy Minister Almog Cohen, Mayor Ruvik Danilovich, and Acting Director General of the Prime Minister’s Office, Drorit Steinmetz.

Prime Minister Netanyahu:

“We are on the seventh day of Operation Roaring Lion. We are striking the enemy: its leadership, its oppressive regime, and various targets, those in Lebanon included.

First, I wish to send my wishes for a full and speedy recovery to our wounded, among them the son of our friend, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich. I want our soldiers and our wounded to know: the entire nation stands behind you.

I am here now in Be’er Sheva, a city that has sustained numerous impacts. I am here with the Mayor and also with the Deputy Minister, and I wish to say to you, Ruvik, and to you, Almog: I am in awe of the steadfast resilience of the citizens.

Defense requires iron discipline – iron discipline and steadfastness – and we have that here in abundance. Offense requires three things: first and foremost, determination; second, initiative; and third, stratagem. We have these in abundance, as the enemy has already discovered, and I tell you, citizens of Israel, the enemy will yet encounter even more intensely. We are on our way to completing all of our missions.

We repaired the previous damage here at Soroka Hospital, and we are about to complete the restoration we spoke of just six months ago. We will restore everything that was damaged here; we will pay all necessary compensations. Moreover, we will not only rebuild, we will improve.”

Mayor of Be’er Sheva, Ruvik Danilovich:

“Our true great victory lies in restoring these homes, bringing in new residents as well, and also retaining our young people. I know how much you are personally involved in the tax benefit issue. We cannot allow Be’er Sheva to be emptied, it is a metropolitan city, a capital city, and it is important that it becomes a city of half a million residents.
You and your people know this and are making it happen. That will truly be our great victory.
Be’er Sheva is ready. Mr. Prime Minister, I got up at 5:00 AM today to cook in honor of your visit. I invite you to join us if you’d like to eat something. The residents of Be’er Sheva also want you to know: we are strong, and we are together.”

Prime Minister Netanyahu added:

“Ruvik, I appreciate that very much. We are keeping a handover-takeover shift: I went to sleep at 5:00 AM and you woke up at 5:00 AM.
But I want to promise you, the residents of Be’er Sheva, and all the residents of the Negev: Be’er Sheva will not be emptied, it will be filled. We are going to settle the Negev and make it bloom. This is our vision and this is our commitment.”
