Jerusalem Light Rail to Increase Frequency as Security Restrictions Are Relaxed
Jerusalem's light rail will run more frequently starting tomorrow due to relaxed security and increased passenger numbers.
Jerusalem, 8 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) — In accordance with Home Front Command’s relief measures as part of Operation “The Roar of the Lion”: The frequency of the Jerusalem Light Rail will be increased
The Ministry of Transportation and Road Safety, in cooperation with the Jerusalem Municipality, announced that starting tomorrow, the frequency of the Jerusalem light rail will be increased during peak hours, following the increase in the number of passengers and in accordance with the relaxations in the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) Home Front Command’s guidelines as part of Operation “Roaring Lion,” the war against Iran.
This comes after all light rail traffic was suspended at the start of the conflict.
Accordingly, the frequency of trains will be increased from service every 10 minutes to service every 6 minutes and 15 seconds, between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., in order to respond to the increasing demand and maintain efficient and continuous transportation service for Jerusalem residents and visitors to the city.
The light rail’s operating hours will remain unchanged at this stage, between 5:15 AM and 10:00 PM, instead of until after Midnight.
