Plan to Connect All Metro Lines Moves Forward
Tel Aviv's metro system moves forward as the National Infrastructure Committee approves plans for operational connections and essential infrastructure.
Jerusalem, 23 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The National Infrastructure Committee (NIC) today (Monday) approved a supplementary and essential plan for the metro system in the Tel Aviv metropolitan area, which includes operational connections between the metro lines and the construction of additional infrastructure required to operate the system.
Sub-project 103B is a strategic plan that aims to ensure full connectivity, operational flexibility, and advanced maintenance capability for the metro system – one of the largest and most complex transportation projects ever carried out in Israel. The plan enables the continued advancement of the entire metro network, while creating optimal integration between the lines, stations, and supporting infrastructure.
The plan established designated areas for the construction of underground metro infrastructure, including tunnels, tracks, operation and maintenance facilities, and associated buildings, along with the allocation of areas for public transportation stations. In addition, the plan includes advanced instructions for construction and development, along with guidelines for protecting the environment and reducing hazards during construction and operation.
The plan allows for extensive planning flexibility, including adjustments in the location of stations and entrances according to engineering and operational needs, and includes provisions for expropriation of land for public purposes, including temporary expropriations for the purpose of carrying out the work.
