Jerusalem, 19 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, together with Transportation Minister Miri Regev, inaugurated the eastern track of Israel Railways in a ceremony at the Shomron-Tayibe station.

“There is huge news here for the citizens of Israel,” said Netanyahu. “First of all, we are taking the load off the coastal axis. We are enabling a parallel axis. You know exactly what this will do to the area between them and the area to the east of them, to all our residents, to all our citizens – Jews and Arabs alike. This is a very big change. It is going to bring a very big development momentum, and also separate a little bit the freight that is currently blocking the coastal train. You can bring it here – you change the speed of transportation throughout the country.”
