Israel Saw 72 Road Fatalities in February

Israel's Central Bureau of Statistics reports 72 road fatalities in Jan-Feb 2026, a rise from 2025, with February showing increased deaths despite fewer.

Jerusalem, 23 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) — In the period of January-February 2026, 72 people in Israel were killed in traffic accidents, reported Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics. This was six more deaths than the corresponding period in 2025.

In February 2026, the number of road accidents and the number of casualties were lower compared to February 2025 and compared to the average for February in 2022-2024, but the number of fatal accidents and fatalities was higher.

Road accidents with injuries that occurred in February 2026 compared to February 2025 and compared to the monthly average for February in 2022-2024:

In February 2026, 37 people were killed in road accidents. This was nine more deaths compared to February 2025, when the total was 28 and seven more deaths compared to the monthly average for February in 2022-2024, when it was 30.

The total number of accidents was 449, a decrease of 22.9% compared to February 2025, when it was 582, and a decrease of 41.6% compared to the February monthly average in 2022-2024, which was 769.

The number of seriously injured was 160, an 18.4% decrease compared to February 2025, when it was 196, and a decrease of 18.8% compared to the February average in 2022-2024, which was 197.

The number of casualties in February was 772, a decrease of 27.1% compared to February 2025, when it was 1,059, and a decrease of 42.3% compared to the February monthly average in 2022-2024, which was 1,338.
