Key points from Janet Shalom’s remarks at the conference:
Energy as a Diplomatic Bridge: “Regional connectivity is a central pillar of our strategy. The growth in energy consumption and the need for reliable energy supply require us and the world to act for connectivity and create a common interest from east to west. The path to creating a regional bridge must begin with promoting connectivity projects today.”
Strategic Projects on the Agenda: In this context, Shalom mentioned the Great Sea Interconnector project (connecting Israel‘s electricity grid to Cyprus, Greece, and Europe) and the Prosperity projects (regional water and electricity agreements) as examples of projects that can form the basis for the connectivity vision.
Next Steps: To ensure Israel‘s place in the regional vision, the Ministry is working to advance existing projects, formulate a strategy that will map opportunities and challenges and create a practical plan for implementing the vision. In addition, there is great importance in strengthening bilateral relations and regional and international platforms to promote cooperation and identify common goals.
Janet Shalom concluded: “Through a combination of concrete projects on the ground, international partnerships, and technological innovation, Israel is positioning itself as a strategic and reliable partner in the global energy landscape.”
