Jerusalem, 28 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Yemen’s Houthis terrorists a proxy of the Iranian regime, said on Saturday that they had launched an attack on Israel, hours after the Israeli military said it had identified the launch of a missile from Yemen, the first such launch since the current war began.
The IDF later said the missile had been intercepted by its air defense.
The launch followed a warning issued by the Iran-aligned group on Friday. In a televised statement, Houthi Military spokesperson Yahya Saree said the group’s “fingers were on the trigger” and that it was ready to intervene if U.S. and Israeli Attacks on Iran continued or if maritime routes were used for strikes against Iran.
In its claim of responsibility issued later on Saturday, the group said it had targeted Israel with a “barrage of ballistic missiles” aimed at what it described as sensitive military sites.
The announcement marked the Houthis’ first official entry into the current war, reviving concerns over security in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab strait, where the Houthis have previously attacked commercial vessels and disrupted shipping traffic.
