Samaria: Assault weapons seized, 5 arrested; violence erupts
Samaria: Israel Police seize assault weapons, arrest 5; violence erupts near Yitzhar, injuring a police officer.
As part of these operations, forces stopped a vehicle that aroused their suspicion near the village of Deir al-Hatab in the Samaria region, where assault weapons were found and confiscated. The five occupants of the vehicle were arrested by Judea and Samaria Border Police fighters and transferred for further investigation at the Ariel station in the Judea and Samaria district. In another incident that occurred in the Yitzhar area, a number of Israeli civilians attacked security forces who were operating to restore order. A police officer was injured and damage was caused to security forces’ vehicles. In addition, a number of Palestinians were injured and evacuated for medical treatment. Security forces have been deployed since the afternoon on routes and at friction points with the aim of maintaining order and security, and at the same time are acting with zero tolerance towards extremist violent individuals who disrupt order. The Israel Police and the IDF view with severity and condemn violence of any kind that constitutes a threat to security in the area.
