The customs house at Ben Gurion Airport, in cooperation with the 747 Special Detective Unit of the Ben Gurion Airport Region in the Central District, yesterday succeeded in uncovering and thwarting an attempt to smuggle 14 kg of MDMA by an 18-year-old resident of Petah Tikva, who returned to Israel on a direct flight from Cyprus.
Meanwhile, an examination by a dog from the dog unit at Ben Gurion Airport Customs raised suspicions about a suitcase and, following an undercover and joint operation with the passenger hall inspectors and Unit 747 detectives, arrested the suspect – an 18-year-old resident of Petah Tikva after a search of his luggage revealed suspicious bags containing approximately 14 kg of a substance suspected of being MDMA.
All findings were transferred for further evidence extraction at the Israel Police forensic laboratories, along with the arrest of the suspect for investigation at the Ben Gurion Airport Region offices and, in accordance with its findings, he will be brought to court this morning for a hearing.
