Jerusalem Rabbi Denounces Iranian Missile Fire Near Holy Sites
Jerusalem's Chief Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz denounced Iranian missile fire near the Old City, home to sacred sites for Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
Jerusalem, 17 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Jerusalem’s Chief Rabbi of the Western Wall Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz denounced Iranian missile fire toward the city on after fragments from missiles and interceptors fell in around the Old City, home of the Temple Mount, Western Wall and Church of the Holy Sepulcher.
“Jerusalem is a global symbol of holiness; harming the area in which the sacred sites of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are located is a grave act that has no place,” Rabinowitz said.
“The whole world recognizes that holy places must remain outside any conflict,” he said, adding, “it is regrettable that the Iranian regime fires toward areas in Jerusalem that contain sacred places for Judaism, Islam, and Christianity.”
