Israel's beach season opening is postponed due to the Iran war, with the IDF Home Front Command citing safety concerns until further notice.
Jerusalem, 25 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Ministry of the Interior determined that, in accordance with the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) Home Front Command’s guidelines, the country’s beaches will remain closed at this stage.
Israel’s official spring/summer beach season was supposed to open today, Wednesday, March 25, 2026. However, in accordance with the Home Front Command’s instructions the beaches will remain closed to the public until further notice and the guidelines are eased.
However, as part of the preparation for the opening of the beaches, the Ministry of the Interior has completed its full preparation for the opening of the bathing season at 160 lifeguard stations across the country, including 16 lifeguard stations for separate bathing: 106 stations in the Mediterranean Sea, 34 stations in the Sea of Galilee, 16 stations in the Dead Sea and 4 stations in the Red Sea.
During 2026, the process of declaring three new bathing beaches is expected to begin, as part of the ministry’s assistance to local authorities in upgrading existing Beaches and adding new bathing beaches.
