Israeli Military Reports Hundreds of Israeli Civilians Attempting to Illegally Cross Into Gaza
Hundreds of Israeli civilians attempted to approach the Gaza fence in a closed military zone, with some crossing into the obstacle area. IDF forces prevented.
Jerusalem, 5 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) spokesman’s office reported that a short while ago (Thursday evening) a number of civilians crossed into the obstacle area separating the territory of the State of Israel from the Gaza Strip.
An IDF force that arrived at the scene stopped the civilians and safely returned them to Israeli territory and they were transferred to the care of the Israel Police.
In addition, during the past few hours, hundreds of Israeli civilians attempted to approach the fence in an area located within a closed military zone that is prohibited to civilian entry.
IDF forces and the Israel Police are deployed in the area and are acting to prevent the civilians from crossing the fence.
“Approaching the obstacle area and entering it is dangerous and interferes with the activity of the security forces in the area,” said the IDF adding that it, “condemns any activity that diverts the attention of commanders and fighters from their missions of defense and counter-terrorism.”
