Jerusalem, 21 September, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israeli military units operating in Gaza City, Hamas’ last stronghold, have killed numerous terrorists who were planning attacks on soldiers, the Israel Defense Forces announced on Sunday.
In the past 24 hours, soldiers from the 98th Division intensified their activities in Gaza City, eliminating multiple terrorists en route to carry out attacks. “An armed terrorist cell was identified near ground forces and, within minutes, a precise airstrike neutralized the threat,” the IDF said. In another operation, a compound containing terrorists and weapons was struck from the air, triggering secondary explosions that confirmed the presence of explosives at the site.
Meanwhile, the 162nd Division continued operations in Gaza City, targeting terrorists and military infrastructure while neutralizing explosive devices planted to harm IDF troops. “Our forces are systematically dismantling threats while ensuring operational safety on the ground,” the IDF said.
In the northern Gaza Strip, the 99th Division focused on Hamas infrastructure, both above and below ground, conducting strikes on military positions and neutralizing armed terrorists. In a coordinated maneuver, troops eliminated a terrorist who posed an immediate threat to ground forces from the sea.
Further south, in Khan Yunis and Rafah, soldiers from the 143rd Division identified and destroyed an observation post manned by Hamas terrorists.
Approximately 1,200 people were killed, and 252 Israelis and foreigners were taken hostage in Hamas’s attacks on Israeli communities near the Gaza border on October 7. Of the 48 remaining hostages, about 20 are believed to be alive.
