Jerusalem, 11 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — After the conclusion of an investigation by the Jerusalem District Police’s Central Unit, an indictment will be filed against a terrorist who planned to carry out a combined attack at the Hizma checkpoint located on the edge of northern Jerusalem.

The suspect is a resident of Qalandia, approximately 50 years old, who was arrested last week on suspicion of planning to carry out a terrorist attack. He was apprehended after being involved in a traffic accident at the entrance to Jerusalem, and knives and military clothing identified with a terrorist organization were found in his vehicle.

The investigation findings, said the police, indicate that the suspected terrorist planned to execute a combined ramming and stabbing attack at the Hizma checkpoint.

On the day of the incident, the suspected terrorist equipped himself with a vehicle bearing forged license plates and with knives. While attempting to reach the checkpoint in order to carry out his plan, he was involved in a self-caused accident that led to his arrest by the police.

On the day following the incident, investigators also arrested the son of the suspected terrorist (21), after a search conducted at his home uncovered incitement materials, Hamas flags, headbands of the terrorist organization, and photographs of terrorists. The son was interrogated on suspicion of possessing means for the purpose of committing a terrorist act, and his remand was extended.
