Hezbollah Southern Command Head Hajj Yousef Ismail Hashem Eliminated in Naval Strike on Beirut
The Israel Navy eliminated Hezbollah Southern Command head Hajj Yousef Ismail Hashem in a naval strike on Beirut, responsible for attacks on Israel.
Jerusalem, 1 April, 2026 (TPS-IL) — In what was described as a precise naval strike, the Israel Navy eliminated the commander of the Hezbollah terrorist organization’s “Southern Front” in Beirut, Hajj Yousef Ismail Hashem
The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) reported that Hashem was killed when the Navy launched an attack on Beirut yesterday (Tuesday) under the direction of the Military Intelligence and the IDF Northern Command in Beirut.
However, the IDF provided no specifics on the attack.
The Southern Front is the Hezbollah unit responsible for carrying out terrorist activities against the citizens of the State of Israel and fighting against IDF forces in Southern Lebanon. As commander of the unit, Hashem commanded the launching of rockets and hostile aircraft towards the territory of the State of Israel and led the reconstruction of Hezbollah, explained the IDF.
Hajj Yousef Ismail Hashem, a terror leader with more than 40 years of experience and one of the pillars of the organization, took over the role of commander of the Southern Front after the killing of Ali Karki, who was eliminated along with Hassan Nasrallah in 2024’s Operation Northern Arrows against Hezbollah. Over the years, he was responsible for the Nasser, Aziz and Badr units – the units responsible for fighting against IDF forces in southern Lebanon and launching rockets towards the territory of the State of Israel.
For years, and throughout the recent period in particular, Hashem led and promoted thousands of terrorist plots against the citizens of the State of Israel and IDF forces.
“Hashem’s elimination constitutes a significant damage to the capabilities of the Hezbollah terrorist organization to carry out terrorist plots against the citizens of the State of Israel and to conduct the continued fighting against IDF forces in southern Lebanon,” said the IDF.
