‘Hezbollah is Playing With Fire’: Israel Threatens Action if Lebanon Fails to Disarm Terror Group

Jerusalem, 2 November, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Defense Minister Israel Katz warned Sunday that Israel may take unilateral action in lebanon if Beirut fails to curb Hezbollah’s military activity. He accused Lebanese President Joseph Aoun of obstructing efforts to disarm the Iran-backed group, calling Hezbollah’s recent actions “playing with fire.”

In a post on X, Katz said Aoun “is dragging his feet” as Hezbollah strengthens its presence in southern Lebanon.

“The Lebanese government’s commitment to disarm Hezbollah and remove it from southern Lebanon must be realized,” he wrote, pledging that “maximum enforcement will continue and deepen – we will not allow a threat to the residents of the north,” Katz tweeted.

His comments followed an overnight IDF strike that killed Hezbollah’s Radwan Force logistics officer and three other operatives. The army said the target had been involved in weapons transfers and rebuilding Hezbollah’s military network along the border.

The operation came days after an IDF raid in the Lebanese village of Blida, which the army said was aimed at destroying terrorist infrastructure. The IDF accused Hezbollah of using a municipal building there for “terror activity under the guise of civilian infrastructure,” calling it part of “a pattern of behavior that endangers the residents of Lebanon.”

Following the raid, Aoun placed Lebanon’s army on high alert and instructed it to confront any Israeli incursions into the south.

Under the terms of the ceasefire that went into effect on November 27, Hezbollah is required to withdraw its armed forces from southern Lebanon. According to UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which ended the 2006 Second Lebanon War, the group is prohibited from operating south of the Litani River.
