Jerusalem, 10 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Cypriot authorities arrested a suspected Hamas operative at Larnaca Airport on Friday on suspicion of planning terrorist attacks in Germany, German prosecutors said on Tuesday.
Germany’s Federal Prosecutor’s Office in Karlsruhe said the suspect is accused of membership in a foreign terrorist organization and of helping organize the transfer of 300 rounds of ammunition in August 2025.
According to prosecutors, the ammunition was intended for attacks against Israeli or Jewish targets in Germany and other European countries.
The suspect was wanted under a European arrest warrant and is expected to be extradited to Germany.
Germany’s Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) searched the suspect’s apartment in Berlin on Sunday as part of the investigation.
The arrest follows a series of investigations into suspected Hamas operatives in Europe. Several members of the network were arrested last year, including in Berlin in early October.
Authorities said the network also extended to Vienna, where hidden weapons were discovered. One member of the group who had transported weapons from Germany to Vienna was arrested in London.
