Jerusalem, 10 August, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israeli authorities arrested a father and son from eastern Jerusalem on suspicion of plotting multiple terrorist attacks, including bombings targeting soldiers and police, the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) and Police announced on Sunday.
Investigators uncovered explosives laboratories where the pair allegedly prepared dozens of devices after learning to make them online. The father reportedly sold explosives to an undercover agent who has been involved in other major arms-trafficking cases for planned attacks against Jews. The investigation revealed that the two suspects planned to carry out several terrorist attacks, including planting explosive devices at a checkpoint in northern Jerusalem and detonating them against soldiers and police officers operating there.
To this end, the two purchased various types of weapons, explosives, and related components for making bombs in apartments that were used as laboratories. According to the Shin Bet, the father and son learned to make the bombs by watching videos online.
The Shin Bet said the father contacted an unspecified terror organization to finance the preparation of the explosives for the attacks. A third eastern Jerusalem man was also arrested in connection with the case.
In raids on the apartments used by the father and son, authorities seized dozens of ready-to-use pipe bombs, weapons, various chemical substances, containers, operating mechanisms operated by electricity or SIM, and various components that were suspected to be intended for use in explosive devices.
Indictments are expected from the Jerusalem District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
