Jerusalem, 23 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — A team of Arab assassins was arrested on the way to carry out a criminal “hit” in Be’er Sheva. This comes as Israel is in the midst of a nationwide crackdown on violent crime in Arab communities.
On Saturday evening, during what the police called a “proactive operation” led by detectives from the Negev Police Department, a suspicious vehicle was tracked, containing two suspects armed with pistols, and equipped with face masks and stocking caps.
Upon the suspects’ arrival near a residential building in the city, and as soon as they got out of the vehicle on their way to carry out, according to suspicion, a targeted assassination, the forces acted and arrested them in the act. During a search of their vehicle, two pistols were seized, one of which was loaded and had a bullet in the barrel. The two suspects, residents of Beer Sheva and Dimona in their ־30s, were arrested and transferred for questioning to the Negev Central Unit.
