Jerusalem, 24 July, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Eight people were injured Thursday morning when a vehicle rammed into a bus stop at the entrance to the Israeli community of Kfar Yona. Police and the Shin Bet have confirmed the incident was a terrorist attack.
A large-scale manhunt is underway for the suspect, who security officials said fled on foot after abandoning the car.
The victims, two of whom are in their twenties and suffered moderate injuries, were treated at the scene before being evacuated to hospitals in Netanya, Hadera, and Kfar Saba. Six others were lightly wounded, mostly with bruises and cuts from shattered glass and debris.
“When I arrived at the scene, we saw a number of injured people lying on the floor,” said Magen David Adom medic Lior Danino. “We saw a bus stop that had been hit hard, glass shattered, people flew to the side of the road. The injured at the scene were conscious.”
Another first responder, MDA emergency medical technician Idan Haras, described a chaotic scene. “There was chaos and destruction… We immediately began providing medical treatment, which included bandaging and stopping bleeding, and quickly evacuated them to hospitals.”
The abandoned vehicle was located shortly after the attack, and investigators are working to determine whether it was stolen or driven by an Israeli citizen involved in terrorism. While the vehicle is Israeli-owned, officials have not yet confirmed the identity of the driver.
“The offending vehicle was located in the Beit Lid area,” Police said in a statement. “At this stage, the hunt for the suspect who fled the vehicle continues, with police officers from the station searching along the roads and in the open area.”
Kfar Yona Mayor Albert Taib blamed long-standing infrastructure failures for the vulnerability of the bus stop. “For months now we have been shouting to Netivei Israel – put up posts here,” he said, referring to security barriers that could protect pedestrians. “We were told that it is not safe. This is something that was expected.” Netivei Israel is a state-owned company in charge of developing and maintaining roads.
The Beit Lid army base and the Ashmoret Prison are both located nearby.
According to Israeli security officials, this is the 13th vehicle-ramming attack in 2025. Two people have been killed and dozens more wounded in such attacks since the start of the year.
