Jerusalem, 15 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Swiping back at internet rumors that he was dead, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released a video of himself in an eatery ordering a coffee on Sunday and dismissing claims he has six fingers.
“I’m dying for coffee,” Netanyahu told the owner standing off-camera as he took the cup.
Extending his other hand towards the camera, Netanyahu asked, “Do you want to count some fingers?”
The man off camera replied, “Can you show us?” The prime minister then passed the coffee to his other and held up another five fingers.
“Here. See? Very beautiful. Cheers.”
Pro-Iran social media claims that Netanyahu was killed or injured in a missile strike after the assassination of supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei intensified during a period of several days when the Israeli Prime Minister did not appear publicly.
Some social media users claimed that Netanyahu’s Thursday night press conference was an artificial intelligence-generated fake video covering up his death. As proof, they pointed to what appeared to be six fingers on the Prime Minister’s hand and what was claimed to be a digitized background of blue curtains. Netanyahu’s press conference was held remotely for security reasons, with reporters participating by Zoom.
Asked about a message to Israelis, Netanyahu speaking directly to the camera, said, “Go out to get some air, but near a protected area. And your stance is amazing, gives strength to me, to the government, to the IDF, to the Mossad. We are doing things that I cannot share at this moment, but we are doing things, hitting Iran very hard even on this day, even in Lebanon.”
When the owner asked him to continue, Netanyahu urges people to obey Home Front Command instructions and stay near protected areas.
“And thank you for the coffee, it’s excellent, I don’t know about the calories, it seems very dangerous to me.”
