Over the past few months, a covert investigation was conducted by the Protection Unit South Lahav 433, after a pattern was identified in various complaints filed at police stations.

The day before yesterday, transitioning to the overt phase of the investigation, detectives from the Protection Unit South Lahav, along with officers from the Dimona station, raided a compound in the Yerucham desert area, conducted a search, and arrested a 46-year-old suspect.

According to suspicion, for a long period, the suspect approached homeowners who were in the process of construction in the new neighborhoods of Yerucham and demanded protection money. If they refused, he would damage property.

After his arrest, he was brought yesterday for an extension of his arrest at the Magistrate Court in Be’er Sheva, and his arrest was extended.
