Renovation boom: Israel vets Indian workers
Israel recruits 1,200 Indian workers for renovation boom, testing plastering, tiling, and drywall skills to address industry demand.
As part of the selection week, approximately 1,200 candidates will be tested in the professions of plastering, tiling, drywall, and construction. Workers who successfully pass the tests are expected to undergo further professional training before arriving in Israel and integrating into work in the industry.
The move in India joins activities carried out in the past year in Sri Lanka, during which candidates for the renovation industry were tested, and 1,633 workers successfully passed, data indicating the high demand and the importance of expanding recruitment sources.
Director General of the Ministry of Construction and Housing, Yehuda Morgenstern:
“The trip for selections in India is a direct continuation of the actions taken by the Ministry in the past year to increase the manpower pool in the construction and renovation industries. Following the success in the selections carried out in Sri Lanka, we are working to expand recruitment sources and create a professional and high-quality selection and training process.”
Ariel Partush, Director of Foreign Relations and Foreign Workers at the Ministry of Construction and Housing:
“We are happy to return to India, this time with the aim of recruiting workers for the renovation industry. The preparatory work that lasted several months with the parties in India was professional and in-depth, and the conditions on the ground allow for a high-quality selection process. We hope to recruit additional professional workers who will help strengthen the industry in Israel.”
