North couple arrested for human trafficking
Israeli police arrested a couple in their 40s from Kiryat Yam on suspicion of managing a network for importing Brazilian women for prostitution in Israel.
Following a covert and complex investigation that lasted several months, detectives from the Central Unit of the Jerusalem District arrested a couple (in their 40s, residents of Kiryat Yam) yesterday on suspicion of managing a network for importing women from abroad for the purpose of employing them in prostitution.
According to suspicion, the two systematically operated to locate women in Brazil, contacted them, and worked to bring them into Israel with the aim of employing them in providing sexual services in various locations across the country. The covert investigation included the use of technological means and the collection of evidence against the two for offenses of bringing a person to engage in prostitution and human trafficking for the purpose of prostitution.
The suspects were arrested yesterday for investigation, and today the police will request an extension of their detention at the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court for the purpose of continuing investigative activities.
