In the shadow of ‘The Lion’s Roar’, the National Insurance Institute is publishing today (Thursday) data that outlines the employment status of reservists: their employment, family, and demographic situation of those called up for reserve duty.
Employment and Salary

The National Insurance Institute’s data indicates that most reservists are integrated into the Israeli labor market, with a significant portion of them belonging to the higher earning brackets above the average wage in the economy:

The employment status of reservists consists of 65% employees, 8% are self-employed, and 5% combine employment as employees and self-employed. 22% of reservists are neither employees nor self-employed.
Salary Level of Reservists:
55% earn above the average wage in the economy. 28% earn between minimum wage and the average, and 17% earn below minimum wage.
Family Status and Parenthood
Parenthood: 37% of reservists have children up to age 18. Additional data reveals that 89% of reservists who are parents have children up to age 12 (representing 33% of all reservists).
Marital Status: 53% of reservists are single, and 43% are married. 3% of reservists are divorced, and 1% are defined as cohabiting.
Demographic Breakdown – Age and Gender
Gender: 80% of reservists are men, and 20% are women.
The most dominant age group is 22-34, which constitutes 62% of reservists. 21% of reservists are aged 35-44, 12% are aged 45-66, and 5% are young people aged 19-21.
