Jerusalem, 8 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — At the request of disability organizations, Israel’s Ministry of Transportation will implement a model to make all taxis and shared ride services (such as Uber) accessible to people with disabilities.

Minister of Transportation Miri Regev instructed the ministry’s Director General Moshe Ben-Zaken to continue promoting solutions that will allow people with disabilities to move around with dignity and equality, on public transportation and in taxis.

Director General of the Ministry of Transportation, Moshe Ben Zaken: “Accessibility is not a privilege but a basic right. The Ministry of Transportation is committed to continuing to promote solutions that will allow people with disabilities to move around with dignity and equality, on public transportation, in taxis and in innovative services such as Uber. We will work together with the organizations on clear timetables to ensure that these services are accessible, efficient and tailored to the needs on the ground.”

Founder and Chairman of the “Disabled Not Half a Human” organization, Alex Friedman: “For many years, the issue has been neglected and has led to an astronomical proliferation of parking badges, which harms the general public, but first and foremost people with disabilities who need a badge and parking to get around, leave the house and be an active part of employment and society – something that is not possible due to abuse. We hope and work to advance the processes as quickly as possible and ensure that only those who deserve it will receive a badge and use it.”
