Israel Adds 174 New Traffic Police Cars Around Country to Increase Enforcement
Israel adds 174 new traffic police cars to boost enforcement nationwide as part of a plan to combat road fatalities, focusing on high-risk areas and offenses.
Jerusalem, 19 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — As part of an integrated national plan to combat road fatalities, jointly implemented by the Israel Police and Israel’s National road safety Authority, 174 new Traffic Police vehicles have been added so far to increase enforcement and enhance the police presence on the roads.
The plan is based on expanding an operational presence in the field, by adding many vehicles that will operate on urban and intercity roads throughout the country, alongside the integration of advanced technologies and integrated activity by all parties operating in the field of road safety, with the goal of raising the level of road safety and curbing fatalities.
This week, 40 additional vehicles went into operation that will be deployed between the regional traffic units in the Traffic Division, from north to south, and will operate on intercity roads. These mobiles join the 134 already operating in recent months on urban roads.
All vehicles are operated based on joint data analysis by the Traffic Division and the Traffic Police, while focusing on risk areas and life-threatening offenses, including speeding, failing to obey a red light, and using a mobile phone while driving.
