Health Ministry: Rabid dog in Rosh Ha’ayin

Rosh Ha'ayin: Rabid dog exposes 14 people to treatment. Health Ministry urges urgent contact for preventive care after Sunday's incident.

Yesterday, Sunday (February 8, 2026), a report was received about a mixed-breed dog, medium-sized and light brown in color, infected with rabies in Rosh HaAyin. 14 people who were exposed to the dog were referred for preventive treatment.

We request that anyone who was in contact, or whose animals were in contact in the incident area with the infected animal or a stray animal, urgently contact the Petah Tikva District Health Office, phone 03-9051818, or the health office closest to their residence to consider receiving preventive treatment. 

After working hours and during the weekend, please go to the emergency room at a hospital.

The Ministry of Health requests:

  • Parents of children – inquire with their children if they have been in contact with suspected animals and contact the health office urgently.
  • Pet owners – contact the municipal veterinarian to verify their vaccination status.
  • Disseminate the information about the incident to travelers and vacationers in the area and in nearby settlements.

The Ministry of Health reminds again that anyone bitten or scratched by an animal should immediately wash the area with running water and soap, disinfect with antiseptics, and go to the health office to check if preventive treatment against rabies is necessary..
