Tourism Ministry Honors Reservists: AI Training for Guides

Israel's Tourism Ministry trains reservist guides in AI for advanced guiding aids, personalized content, and route planning, aiming to enrich the tourist.

At the center of the day was a practical workshop that focused on ways to integrate smart technology into tour guiding: developing advanced guiding aids, creating tailored content, planning routes, and getting acquainted with innovative tools that can be immediately implemented in the field. Participants experienced the integration of Artificial Intelligence as an integral part of their work, with the aim of enriching the tourist experience and making it personal and precise.

The day was opened by the Director General of the Ministry of Tourism, Michael Itzhakov, who welcomed the participants and expressed his appreciation for their commitment, perseverance in their studies, and their choice to enter the guiding profession at this complex time.

Subsequently, a professional tour of the museum took place, during which the participants viewed the exhibits from the perspective of tour guides. A particularly moving moment occurred when one of the participants identified a photograph of her father alongside Yehoram Gaon on his enlistment day, which provided an unexpected encounter with a personal story that deepened the connection to heritage, memory, and place.

The Ministry of Tourism continues to invest in the development of tools, skills, and innovation that will shape the future of Israeli tourism in the coming years.
In 2026, the Ministry is expected to expand its activities in the field of Artificial Intelligence and establish a technological innovation community that will serve as a platform for collaboration between Entrepreneurs, startup companies, and stakeholders in the tourism industry. This move, alongside the expanded use of technology in marketing, reflects the worldview led by Minister Haim Katz – to see technology not just as a work tool, but as a central economic growth engine for the future of Israeli tourism.
