Yesterday, the grand closing concert of the Second International Conference on Andalusian Music and Culture took place at Beit HaKeshtot in Lod. This moving event celebrated the richness of Andalusian heritage and featured performances by leading paytanim from Israel and Morocco. The music, interwoven with melodies and sacred poetry, brought together a diverse audience and breathed life into a centuries-old tradition that connects worlds, religions, and cultures.
The concert was held in the presence of the Mayor of Lod, Yair Revivo, the Minister of Regional Cooperation, MK David Amsalem, MK Eliyahu Revivo, and the Director-General of the Ministry of Regional Cooperation, Gilad Shadmon, alongside many distinguished guests who came to enjoy an evening of music, culture, and heritage. In their speeches, the mayor and the minister emphasized the importance of culture as a bridge between nations and as a means to strengthen ties between Israel, Morocco, and the wider region. Lod, a city with a rich multicultural background, is a natural home for such events that encourage dialogue, understanding, and mutual respect.
The Ministry of Regional Cooperation is proud to support this event and the entire conference, which reflects our vision of building connections between Israel and its neighbors—not only in economic and political aspects but also through cultural and artistic dialogue. Events like this are more than just a musical celebration; they serve as a true bridge between communities, reinforcing a shared sense of partnership and identity between nations and traditions.
A special thanks to the Lod Municipality and Mayor Yair Revivo for this remarkable event and outstanding production. We remain committed to promoting similar initiatives that enrich the community and highlight multiculturalism as an integral part of our society.
