President hosts freed POWs from Israel’s wars

Israeli President hosts freed POWs from Yom Kippur War and First Lebanon War, honoring their resilience and commitment to returning hostages.

The President’s Residence:

We were moved to host a meeting at the President’s Residence with released POWs from the Israeli security systems who are active within the “Cities at Night” association. They went through an unimaginable hell – most of them were captured by the enemy in the Yom Kippur War, but some were captured in the First Lebanon War and in various intelligence operations.

They chose to rise from the trauma, build families, and establish full and meaningful lives. Alongside the trauma they experienced, some continue to contribute to the IDF and the security system, in civilian endeavors, volunteering, and with ongoing commitment to Israeli society. It is important to find ways to remember, honor, and remind of the released POWs and their stories.

It was especially moving to hear their commitment to the return of the hostages, and the pain they shared with them and their families. Together, we all committed to do everything possible so that Rani Gvili, hero of Israel, will return to our beloved homeland.
