President’s Residence:
Major Yonatan Armoni, a hero of Israel, was seriously wounded in the ground fighting in Gaza in January 2024. He lost his sight and his hand, and sustained a complex injury to his other hand.
Since his injury, Yonatan has shown extraordinary strength: he is recovering with determination, building a beautiful relationship with the charming Noa, assisting soldiers, and working to strengthen ties with Diaspora Jewry. In this context, Yonatan connected with the Los Angeles community and the Magbit philanthropic foundation, through which he met Dr. David Colbert, a world-renowned physician and plastic surgeon.
Dr. Colbert, a true Israel-loving Jew, came to Israel specifically to operate on wounded soldiers and collaborate with the excellent experts at Sheba in implementing an innovative practice for hand rehabilitation, using unique technology he developed. We hope this technology will help restore the motor function in Yonatan’s injured hand.
This is a story of great light – heroism, hope, medical professionalism, mutual responsibility, and great love. I wish for the success of Yonatan’s medical procedure and pray for complete recovery for him and for all those wounded in body and soul.
