According to the indictment, filed with the Rishon LeZion Magistrate’s Court by Adv. Hila Cohen, on May 2, 2024, the defendant, who served as a patrol officer at the Oz station in the capital, was driving his private vehicle on Highway 443. He was wearing his uniform and on his way to work.
During the drive, the defendant noticed the complainant’s vehicle traveling in the adjacent lane, and believed he was holding an iPhone 11 mobile phone. The defendant ordered him to pull over to the side of the road, and upon stopping the vehicle, the defendant approached him, took his identity card, and seized the complainant’s mobile phone from its dedicated holder in his vehicle.
Subsequently, the defendant returned the ID card to the complainant, put the device in his pocket, and let the complainant go on his way. When the complainant asked the defendant what had become of the device, the defendant did not respond, returned to his vehicle, and drove away with the mobile phone in his possession.
The indictment attributes offenses of theft and abuse of power to the defendant. The investigation was conducted by the Jerusalem team at the Police Internal Investigations Department.
