Jerusalem, 17 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna is visiting Israel as the war with Iran continues and Iranian missiles rain down indiscriminately on Israeli cities. On Tuesday Tsahkna met with his Israeli counterpart, FM Gideon Sa’ar, in Jerusalem and expressed his country’s support for Israel at this time declaring that, “Estonia stands firmly for long-term stability in the Middle East, and my visit to Israel today, amid active conflict, reflects this commitment.”

Tsahkna also said that he stressed to Sa’ar in their meeting that Estonia recognizes “the serious threats posed by Iran, including its nuclear and missile programs, its support for terrorist organizations, and its cooperation with Russia in its war against Ukraine.”

“This is why Estonia supports efforts by Israel and the United States to ensure that Iran cannot pose such threats,” he added.

The two also discussed what he called the “interlinked security of Europe and the Middle East, including the growing cooperation between Iran and Russia through military coordination and intelligence sharing.”

He also said Estonia supports the disarmament of Hamas and that he raised “concerns about settlement expansion and violence in the West Bank, which risk undermining stability” and that a “lasting peace and security require progress toward a two-state solution, allowing Israel and Palestine to live side by side in peace and security.”
