Trilateral summit in Athens: FM Sa’ar meets with the foreign ministers of Greece and Cyprus to promote the regional alliance

The three countries agreed to strengthen the dialogue and coordination between the countries.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Gideon Sa’ar met today in Athens with the Foreign Ministers of Greece and Cyprus, Giorgos Gerapetritis and Constantinos Kombos, in the framework of a trilateral summit of the regional alliance. The discussions focused on regional developments and the Iranian nuclear threat.

FM Sa’ar stressed to his counterparts that there are elements in Teheran that are increasingly determined to acquire nuclear weapons, following significant setbacks experienced by Iranian proxies in the Middle East due to Israeli actions, and updated them on the Israeli Air Force attack in Damascus against the Islamic Jihad terrorist headquarters.

FM Sa’ar addressed the scandalous report by the UN Human Rights Council Commission of Inquiry: “Today we saw an unbelievable blood libel: The so-called ‘Commission of Inquiry’ of the UN Human Rights Council published one of the most serious blood libels the world has ever seen – and we have seen many. This committee blames the victims for the crimes committed against them. Hamas is the organization that committed horrific sexual crimes against Israeli men and women. This is a sickening document that only an antisemitic organization could produce.

The three countries agreed to strengthen dialogue and coordination between the countries. Among other things, it was agreed to hold regular monthly consultations between the three foreign ministers; to establish a committee consisting of directors general of the foreign ministries to strengthen economic relations between the countries; and to coordinate an upcoming meeting of the leaders of the three nations in the near future.
